About The Tribe
The Comanches live in central Texas. They were one of the most fierce tribes. They stole most of the Apache’s land. They also stole horses and they were very good with the horses. They are known for their night hunts. The Comanches were a nomadic tribe. They moved around a lot. They couldn’t live without the buffalo. They used buffalo for food, houses, clothing, weapons, and everyday tools. They lived mainly in Texas and Oklahoma. They believed in supernatural powers and the afterlife. The Comanches ate whenever they were hungry during the day and consumed their heaviest meal in the evening. They would not eat anything from the water unless they were going to starve. They did not grow their own food, but they traded for corn. No matter what time of day or night when a visitor arrived at the Comanches’ camp they were always offered food. The Comanche Indians were experts with the bow and arrow. They could shoot up to 20 arrows a minute. Their arrows were carried in a quiver case, which was strapped across the warriors back.
